The game is known for its deep, challenging and engaging gameplay, as well as the no-less-impressive quality of its music. It chronicles the adventures of the wandering swordsman Rance and his traveling companion/slave girl Sill Plain as they journey across the Tenma Bridge to the distant country of JAPAN (yes, it's capitalized for a reason).

Sengoku Rance is a Turn-Based Strategy game created by AliceSoft and is the seventh installment in the long-running Rance series (the first was released in 1989). Sometimes these units can actually be detrimental to you winning depending on enemy composition and who they field.Characters, clockwise from top: Rance, Uesugi Kenshin, Yamamoto Isoroku, Kouhime, Kurusu Miki, Nanjo Ran, Sill Plain. Tacticians, Warriors, Archers, and various other offensivex x or support units you only use if they're unique units that have high stats or some kind of unique skill like Kenshin. Assassination can also be used to take out units with large numbers or footsoldiers like the 9999 ones you might see in the harder modes. Ninjas you want mostly for their assassination, against certain factions like Hojo who field a lot of diviners you need someone who can take out them out before they can lay a strong Shikigami barrage. Most of them can hit every enemy unit for a lot of damage or deal a heavy amount of damage to a single unit. The next important units are your " artillery ", these are units like Maria, Natori, and the various Diviners you get. The majority of units that you're going to need are footsoldiers, on higher difficulties or late into the game anything that isn't a well stocked high defense footsoldier will melt in one hit.
